Destination old town Bridlington    Heritage Open Days
Once again DOT is taking part in the countrywide Heritage Open Days (celebrating it 25th
anniversary); this year with ‘events’ over the weekends of the 14th, 15th & 21st, 22nd
September. (Opening times 10.30am – 5.00pm)
On both weekends, DOT supports the opening of two historic private houses in the High St –
Bestworth House (51-53) and The Toft (43). At each, some of the rooms are open to view

with stewards on hand to explain historic features. If you have an interest in local history and
would like to be involved please do get in touch with us via the email address below.
Galleries & Old Town businesses will be open as usual of course, with some demonstrating
their craft skills (jewellery, pottery, textiles). Local people will be demonstrating traditional
craft skills in the houses; spinning, lace making and quilting for example.

History on our Doorstep
There will be an event held in the Priory Rooms on Saturday September 14th 10.30am –
4.00pm. This will showcase our local groups and organisations and what they are doing to
promote and preserve our magnificent and diverse local heritage.
Best of all: entry is free!
Details are on the leaflets to be found in shops and galleries down the High Street. You can
also search the Heritage Open Days website for local opening details.
